The course is in the heart of Doncaster's famous Racecourse, less than a mile from Doncaster’s busy town center. A superb parkland golf course, well drained and open all year round with no temporary greens. The course is more difficult than the yardage may suggest and is one of the best winter courses in the Yorkshire area, it is an easy walking stroll with very little gradient changes and suitable for golfers of all standards with Par of 69 measuring a deceiving 6139 yards.
Developed along the years, firstly by adding 1 hole making 10 in total then another couple a few years later and then in 1965 when it became a full 18-hole course. there have been several occasions throughout the years when it has seemed that golf on the Moor would disappear completely, but as always, the club like a Phoenix has risen out of the ashes, this is tantamount to the spirt of the Town Moor Golfer and bears testament to the founders of this club.
Town Moor is a very friendly social club but very competitive. The AA Golf Course Guide acknowledging the fact that it is easy walking but a testing heathland course with good true greens with one of the more notable holes being the 11th par 4 at 464 yds. taking two good knocks to get there in regulation.
